What transfer options are available?

Depending on your resort or island location, transfers may be arranged by speedboat, domestic flight, seaplane or public ferry. Your transfer details will be confirmed before your arrival.

Do I need to complete an Immigration Declaration before arriving in the Maldives?

Yes. All travellers are required to complete the Maldives Traveller Declaration prior to arrival and departure. The declaration can be submitted online within the period specified by Maldives Immigration before your flight. Details will be shared to you during booking process.

Do I need a visa to visit the Maldives?

Yes, we strongly recommend all travellers take out comprehensive travel insurance before visiting the Maldives. Your policy should cover medical expenses, trip cancellation or interruption, personal belongings, and any planned water-based activities such as snorkelling, diving or surfing.

Do I need travel insurance for my Maldives holiday?

Most visitors receive a free tourist visa on arrival in the Maldives, subject to meeting the current immigration requirements, including a valid passport, confirmed accommodation booking and proof of onward travel.

What items are prohibited in the Maldives?

The Maldives is a Muslim country, and certain items are prohibited from being brought into the country. These include:

What currency is used in the Maldives?

Currency exchange services are available at Velana International Airport, banks, and authorised money exchange counters in Malé. However, US Dollars are widely accepted across resorts, hotels, and tourist services, so most visitors prefer to use USD during their stay for convenience.

Should I check my flight and hotel dates before travelling?

Yes. We strongly recommend reviewing your booking confirmation to ensure your flight arrival and departure dates match your accommodation booking and transfer arrangements. This helps avoid any unnecessary delays or additional costs.

When will I receive my travel documents?

Your travel documents, including hotel confirmation, transfer details and any relevant vouchers, will be sent to you before your departure. Please review all documents carefully and contact us if you notice any discrepancies.

What should I pack for my Maldives holiday?

Are there luggage restrictions for seaplane and domestic flight transfers?

Can I use my mobile phone and internet in the Maldives?

Yes. Most resorts, hotels and guesthouses provide Wi-Fi access. Visitors can also purchase local SIM cards at Velana International Airport for mobile data and local calls.

What time zone is the Maldives in?

The Maldives operates on Maldives Time (MVT), which is GMT +5 throughout the year, with no daylight saving time.

Some resorts in the Maldives also temporarily shift their local time up to 1 hour ahead (GMT +6). This is done mainly to allow guests to enjoy longer daylight hours in the evenings, creating more time for sunset activities, dining experiences, and excursions after returning from day trips. It is important to note that this is a resort-specific practice and not an official national time change.
